SimuLook Terms of Use

By using SimuLook (“the app”) you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. Downloading the app and viewing its onboarding and purchase information does not require payment. Using its recipe library, community, photo-reading, or camera tools requires an active monthly or annual subscription, an eligible promotional entitlement, or a lifetime purchase. After purchase, browsing and creating local recipes does not require a SimuLook account; publishing, commenting, liking, following, reporting, and blocking require an account and acceptance of these terms.
1. Who can use SimuLook
You must be old enough to consent to these terms in your country (at least 13, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live). Don’t use SimuLook if a prior account of yours was terminated for a violation.
2. Paid access and purchases
Prices, billing periods, trial eligibility, and any promotional terms are shown by Apple in the purchase screen before you confirm. Monthly and annual plans renew automatically until cancelled through your Apple Account. If an eligible plan displays a free trial, it converts to the price and billing period shown unless you cancel before the trial ends. Apple determines offer eligibility and handles payment, cancellation, tax, and refund processing; SimuLook never sees your full payment-card details.
A lifetime purchase is a non-renewing entitlement linked to the Apple Account used for the purchase. Use Restore purchases to recover an eligible purchase on another supported device using the same Apple Account. Access can end after expiry, cancellation, refund, revocation, fraud, or a breach of these terms. Nothing here limits cancellation, refund, withdrawal, or consumer rights that apply mandatorily in your country.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the recipes, photos, captions, and comments you publish (“your content”). By publishing, you grant SimuLook a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host and display your content within the app and its community features. You’re responsible for having the rights to anything you upload — only post photos you took or have permission to share.
4. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. When you publish content or interact with other people on SimuLook, you agree not to post, upload, or share content that is:
- sexually explicit, pornographic, or otherwise NSFW;
- hateful, harassing, threatening, or that targets people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity;
- violent, gory, or that promotes self-harm;
- illegal, or that depicts or facilitates illegal activity;
- spam, scams, or deceptive/impersonating content;
- infringing on someone else’s copyright, trademark, or privacy (including photos of identifiable people posted without consent).
You also agree not to harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse other users through comments, follows, or any other feature.
5. Reporting, moderation, and enforcement
Recipes and comments created by other users have a Report action (••• menu → Report). You can also block any user, which hides their content from you.
We review reports and act on objectionable content and abusive users promptly — typically within 24 hours. Depending on severity we may hide or remove content, warn the user, or suspend/terminate the account. We may remove content or restrict accounts at our discretion to keep the community safe. Repeat or serious violations result in permanent removal.
6. Account termination & deletion
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → ••• → Delete Account on iOS, or Settings → Account → Delete Account on macOS). Deleting your account permanently removes your published recipes, photos, comments, and social graph from our servers. Local-only recipes on your device are not affected. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Camera connectivity and safety
On supported Apple devices, SimuLook can communicate with compatible Fujifilm cameras over a cable. It may read recipe settings and, when you explicitly select a photo on the camera, read enough of that JPEG to extract its embedded recipe metadata. Those reads do not change the camera.
SimuLook can also write verified recipe fields to a custom camera slot. A write happens only after you choose the recipe and destination slot and confirm that the existing slot will be replaced. The app reads written values back and reports fields it could not verify or deliberately skipped. Do not disconnect or power off the camera while a write is in progress. Camera and firmware behavior can vary, so review the reported result and your camera menu before relying on the slot. We make no guarantee that a recipe produces a particular creative result on every body or firmware version.
8. Trademarks and independence
SimuLook is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to FUJIFILM Corporation, and FUJIFILM has not reviewed, approved, or tested it.
FUJIFILM, X100VI, and the film simulation names — including PROVIA, Velvia, ASTIA, CLASSIC CHROME, CLASSIC Neg., NOSTALGIC Neg., PRO Neg., ETERNA, ACROS and REALA ACE — are trademarks of FUJIFILM Corporation. They appear in this app only to say which cameras and which settings it works with, which is the only way to describe compatibility truthfully. No ownership of or right to those marks is claimed.
How the app talks to a camera was worked out by observing one specific camera body on one specific firmware version. It does not come from any manufacturer documentation, and no manufacturer has verified it.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The app and community content are provided “as is”. Recipes are user-submitted opinions, not professional advice, and we do not promise that a recipe produces a particular creative result.
Two points about camera writes specifically, because they are the part of the app that changes something you own:
- Writing a recipe to a custom slot replaces whatever that slot held, and the app cannot restore the previous contents. If a slot matters to you, write its settings down before you overwrite it.
- The app writes only settings it has verified on the exact camera model and firmware it supports, reads every written value back, and tells you what it skipped. It stops rather than guessing. That is a real safeguard, but it is not a guarantee about every body, firmware version, or future update.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. In particular, our liability is untouched for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, for fraudulently concealed defects, and under mandatory product liability law. Where we are liable for ordinary negligence, that liability is limited to the breach of essential contractual obligations and to the damage typical and foreseeable for an agreement of this kind.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
